Van Jones: El-Sayed Wants Israeli Children Bombed and Rocketed
CNN commentator Van Jones criticized Michigan Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed for opposing U.S. weapons sales to Israel, saying the stance endangers Israeli children.
During CNN’s election night coverage on Tuesday, Jones took aim at El-Sayed’s opposition to American weapons sales to Israel, according to Breitbart News, calling the policy dangerously extreme and urging the candidate to reconsider.
Jones acknowledged that conditioning aid might be acceptable political territory, but drew a firm line at preventing Israel from purchasing defensive weapons from the United States. The CNN senior political commentator expressed hope that El-Sayed would reverse course, emphasising that blocking Israel from acquiring defensive capabilities sends a dangerous signal. Jones warned such a policy amounts to declaring open season on Israeli children.
Jones specifically highlighted the Iron Dome missile defence system, which he described as a Barack Obama-era initiative designed purely for defensive purposes to prevent rockets from striking Israeli civilians. He expressed disbelief that a potential senator would oppose even such defensive measures.
The commentator’s remarks underscore growing tensions within the Democratic Party over Israel policy, particularly as progressive candidates adopt increasingly critical positions toward the Jewish state.
