Trump Holds Situation Room Meeting on Iran Decision
President Trump is meeting in the White House Situation Room to decide on a tentative 60-day Iran ceasefire extension that includes demands for no nuclear weapons and free passage through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Breitbart News, Trump outlined his core demands for Iran in a Truth Social post late Friday morning, specifying several non-negotiable conditions before any agreement can move forward.
The President’s requirements include an Iranian commitment to never develop a nuclear weapon, immediate and unrestricted passage for ships through the Strait of Hormuz with no tolls, removal of all water mines from the strategic waterway, and the handover of enriched materials for destruction.
Donald Trump detailed his administration’s military actions in the region, referencing the removal of numerous mines through underwater mine sweepers and noting a powerful B2 bomber strike from eleven months prior that targeted underground enrichment facilities. The President stated that mountains have virtually collapsed over buried enriched material, which he referred to as “nuclear dust.”
Trump specified that the United States, working alongside China as the only nations with sufficient mechanical capability, will coordinate with Iran and the International Atomic Energy Agency to unearth and destroy this enriched material. He made clear that no money would be exchanged until further notice.
The President also addressed vessels currently blocked by the American naval blockade, announcing the operation will be lifted and allowing ships to begin their journey home. Trump extended personal greetings from himself to the families of those affected by the blockade.
Additional matters of lesser importance have reportedly been resolved, Trump stated, though he reserved final judgment pending the Situation Room deliberations.
Reports emerged Thursday that Trump’s sign-off was required for a tentative ceasefire extension negotiated between American and Iranian officials. The proposed 60-day agreement would create space for focused discussions specifically addressing Iran’s nuclear program, as Breitbart News reports.
The meeting in the Situation Room represents a critical juncture in U.S.-Iran relations as Trump weighs whether the terms meet American security interests and red lines.
