RN
About
The Rassemblement National (National Rally, RN) is France's largest right-wing populist party and the leading force in the Patriots for Europe group in the European Parliament. Originally the Front National, founded by Jean-Marie Le Pen in 1972, it was rebranded in 2018 under Marine Le Pen's leadership to shed its more extreme associations. In the 2024 French parliamentary elections RN and allied parties won the largest bloc of seats in the National Assembly.

Jordan Bardella has been RN's party president since November 2022, succeeding Marine Le Pen. Born in 1995 to a French mother and Italian immigrant father, he rose through the party's youth wing to become its youngest-ever president. He also chairs the Patriots for Europe group in the European Parliament, making him one of the most prominent figures of the European national-conservative right.

Marine Le Pen served as RN party president from 2011 to 2021 and ran for the French presidency in 2012, 2017 and 2022, reaching the second round in the latter two. She leads RN's parliamentary group in the National Assembly, making her the dominant figure of the French right in parliament. Her rebranding of the party — from Front National to Rassemblement National in 2018 — was key to its normalisation.
