EKRE
About
The Conservative People's Party of Estonia (EKRE) was formed in 2012 through a merger of the Estonian People's Union and the Estonian Patriotic Movement. It combines rural conservatism, social traditionalism, strict immigration policy, and Euroscepticism. EKRE was part of Estonia's governing coalition from 2019 to 2021 and has remained a significant opposition force, winning around seventeen percent of the vote in the 2023 elections.

Martin Helme has chaired EKRE since 2019. The son of EKRE co-founder and former Interior Minister Mart Helme, he previously served as Finance Minister and is known for uncompromising positions on immigration, LGBT rights, and Estonian identity. The Helme family's dual prominence has given the party an unusual dynastic dimension in Estonian politics.
