About
Chega (Enough) was founded in 2019 by André Ventura and achieved one of the fastest rises in European right-wing politics, growing from a single seat in 2019 to becoming Portugal's third-largest party by the 2024 elections. It advocates law and order, anti-corruption measures, stricter immigration policy, and welfare reform. Chega's rapid ascent disrupted Portugal's long-standing two-party dynamic between the center-right PSD and the center-left PS.

André Ventura founded Chega in 2019 and has led it ever since. Born in 1983, he holds a law degree and gained public recognition as a sports TV commentator before entering politics as a PSD local councillor. His populist, direct style and anti-corruption message proved highly effective with Portuguese voters frustrated by the established parties.
