Sweden’s Muslim Voters Stay Firmly Left-Wing
Swedish Muslims overwhelmingly support left-wing parties with 85% backing Social Democrats, Left Party and Greens, while governing coalition parties receive only 3.8% support, according to Novus polling data.
Previously unpublished figures from the Novus polling firm, as reported by The European Conservative, demonstrate that 61.6% of respondents who identify as Muslim support the Social Democrats, while the Left Party draws 18.7% of Muslim voters. The Green Party captured 4.9% support, bringing the combined total for the three left-wing parties to 85% among Muslim respondents.
Government Coalition Struggles for Muslim Support
In sharp contrast, the governing Moderate Party received merely 2.1% support from Muslim voters, according to the Novus data reviewed by Fokus magazine. The Christian Democrats and Liberals fared even worse, attracting 1.5% and 0.2% respectively. Together, these three coalition parties garnered just 3.8% of Muslim voter preferences.
The data reveals that the Sweden Democrats stand as a notable exception within the right-of-center political landscape. The party secured 10.4% support among Muslim respondents—more than double the combined backing received by the other three government parties.

The polling figures, examined by The European Conservative, broadly align with established voting patterns that have characterized Swedish electoral politics in recent years. The concentration of Muslim voters within left-wing parties represents a significant demographic factor in Sweden’s evolving political landscape.
The stark disparity in support levels underscores the challenges facing centre-right and conservative parties in expanding their appeal among Muslim communities, while also highlighting the Sweden Democrats’ comparatively stronger position despite their immigration-skeptical platform.
