ICE Arrests Daughter of Cuban Communist Regime General
ICE detained the daughter of a senior Cuban general in Florida, the latest enforcement action against relatives of communist regime officials living in the United States.
According to Breitbart News, Alina Rosales Aguirreurreta, daughter of General Ulises Rosales del Toro, was arrested by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Florida. ICE sources confirmed the arrest to Martí Noticias on Tuesday.
Rosales Aguirreurreta, who works as a doctor according to statements from her family, is the daughter of an 84-year-old general widely regarded as part of the Cuban regime’s old guard. General Rosales del Toro has wielded considerable political and military influence in Cuba for decades through his close connections to both late dictator Fidel Castro and his brother and successor, Raúl Castro.
The Cuban general’s career includes multiple high-ranking positions within the regime and Cuban Communist Party. He has served as vice president of the council of ministers, agriculture minister, and chief of the general staff of the revolutionary armed forces. He also holds the honorary title of Hero of the Republic of Cuba.
Rosales Aguirreurreta first came to public attention in U.S. territory in February when Martí Noticias reported her presence. Family testimonies indicate she entered the United States in 2023 during the Biden administration using a B-1/B-2 non-immigrant visa issued in Havana. She had been living in Miami, attempting to adjust her immigration status.
Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart (R-FL) praised the arrest on social media, declaring that the henchmen of the Castro regime and their accomplices have no place in the United States.
Cuba-focused news outlets have long identified General Rosales del Toro’s family as emblematic of the privileged Cuban regime elite who enjoy luxurious lifestyles while ordinary Cubans suffer under communist rule. Family members reportedly maintain connections to numerous businesses linked to the Cuban regime and its GAESA conglomerate.
Evidence compiled by Cuban media outlets over recent years shows members of the Rosales del Toro family enjoying lavish vacations and expensive indulgences. This stands in stark contrast to the grinding poverty endured by the Cuban people during 67 years of communist rule.
While Alina Rosales Aguirreurreta established herself in Miami beginning in 2023, other children and grandchildren of General Rosales del Toro have pursued comfortable existences elsewhere. Another daughter, Zulema Rosales Aguirreurreta, is believed to live in Cancún, Mexico, while frequently traveling to Cuba where she operates several businesses. These include a daycare in Kholy, an exclusive and expensive Havana neighborhood.
The arrest represents ICE’s second publicly known detention of a relative of a Cuban regime official discovered living on U.S. soil. Last week, Secretary of State Marco Rubio announced the arrest of Adys Lastres Morera, sister of GAESA President Ania Guillermina Lastres. Secretary Rubio had sanctioned GAESA and its leadership earlier this month.
Lastres Morera, like Rosales Aguirreurreta, was found living in Florida after entering the United States in January 2023 during the Biden administration. She had obtained lawful permanent resident status through a petition filed by her American citizen son. Rubio terminated her green card after determining she was managing real estate entities in Florida while assisting the communist Castro regime.
Secretary Rubio issued a forceful warning last week, stating that those who threaten U.S. national security will be held accountable regardless of where they attempt to hide. He made clear that regime cronies would not be permitted to live lavishly in the United States.
