GOP Rep. Fallon: Iran Must End Terror Exports in Any Deal
Republican Representative Pat Fallon says any Iran nuclear deal must include complete uranium removal, Strait of Hormuz reopening, and ending terrorism exports.
A comprehensive nuclear agreement with Iran must include the complete removal of all enriched uranium from the Islamic Republic’s control, the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, and a firm commitment from Tehran to cease its exports of terrorism and ballistic missile technology, a senior Republican lawmaker has declared.
Representative Pat Fallon of Texas outlined the core requirements for any future deal with Iran during an appearance on Fox News Channel’s Ingraham Angle program Thursday evening, according to Breitbart News.
The Texas congressman emphasized that President Trump has drawn a clear red line regarding negotiations with the Iranian regime, insisting on either a comprehensive agreement that serves American interests or no agreement at all.
Speaking on the conditions that would constitute an acceptable arrangement, Fallon stated that enriched uranium stockpiles currently held by Iran must be transferred entirely to United States custody or placed under the control of a trusted third party nation. He made clear that allowing Tehran to retain any control over such materials is categorically unacceptable.
Beyond the nuclear material issue, the Republican representative highlighted two additional non-negotiable demands. Iran must reopen the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz to international shipping, and the regime must verifiably end its long-standing practice of exporting both terrorist capabilities and ballistic missile technology to proxy forces throughout the Middle East.
Fallon characterized these three conditions as the baseline for what would represent a genuine victory for American interests and regional peace. Any agreement falling short of these requirements, he indicated, would be rejected by the administration and its congressional allies.
The comments reflect the administration’s maximum pressure approach toward Tehran and its refusal to accept the kind of limited nuclear inspections regime that characterized previous diplomatic efforts with the Islamic Republic.
