Giants’ Carter Mocks Dart’s Trump Support on Social Media
New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart's introduction of President Trump at a campaign event has created tension in the team's locker room, drawing criticism from teammate Abdul Carter.
On Friday, Dart took the stage at Rockland Community College in Suffern, New York, where he greeted the crowd before welcoming the president. “Big Blue nation, it’s a pleasure to be here,” the quarterback announced, before introducing Trump to discuss tax policy initiatives passed in the previous year.
Trump responded warmly to Dart’s introduction, remarking that the young quarterback will become “a future Hall of Famer in my book.”
The public political declaration did not sit well with teammate Abdul Carter, a defensive end who responded on social media with critical commentary about the event. Carter, like Dart, was selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft by the Giants.
The exchange prompted reaction from Lawrence Tynes, the former Giants placekicker, who argued that internal disagreements should remain private. Tynes stressed that the locker room represents a unified space where players of different backgrounds and beliefs work toward a shared mission, and that publicly calling out teammates over political positions undermines that environment.
While both players have the right to their respective political views, the incident highlights a broader question about how NFL teams navigate internal divisions. Notably, Giants head coach John Harbaugh has long been known as a Trump supporter, as was Lawrence Taylor, widely recognized as the greatest player in franchise history.
