Democrat Candidates Bash Trump But Fumble on Policy Details

Democratic congressional candidates nationwide frequently criticize President Trump but often struggle to answer questions about their own policy positions when pressed by voters and reporters.

According to Breitbart News, Democrat lawmakers and hopefuls have deployed a familiar arsenal of labels against the President and his administration, routinely branding Trump a dictator, Nazi, fascist, and worse. Such rhetoric has become standard practice among party candidates. But when the spotlight turns to their own political platforms and records, several Democrats have struggled to respond.

In New Jersey, Democratic congressional candidate Rebecca Bennett was asked whether people should stop attempting to assassinate the President, a question posed in light of multiple attempts on his life in recent years, including a recent incident at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Bennett offered no answer. She remained silent as a campaign staffer physically waved a sign in front of the questioner.

In New Hampshire, congressional Democrat Stefany Shaheen declined to condemn scandal-embroiled figure Graham Platner when pressed by reporters.

Meanwhile, Colorado congressional candidate Manny Rutinel, who is challenging Representative Gabe Evans, faced questions about his years of vegan activism and condemnation of animal agriculture. When asked about his moral position on eating meat, Rutinel did not respond. Instead, a staffer rushed toward the questioner and waved his hand in an apparent attempt to block the individual from filming or speaking.

In Arizona’s Sixth Congressional District, Democrat Joanna Mendoza is vying to unseat Representative Juan Ciscomani. When questioned about her past endorsement of taxpayer-funded sex change surgeries and whether illegal immigrants should be prohibited from accessing such funding, Mendoza refused to answer. A campaign aide responded by waving a sign and singing, “I love Mendoza, Mendoza, Mendoza.”

Mike Marinella, spokesman for the National Republican Congressional Committee, condemned the behavior in a statement, as reported by Breitbart News. He said that Democrat candidates across the country cannot answer basic questions without throwing a toddler temper tantrum, adding that voters see them as too weak and spineless to represent them in Congress and will withhold their trust at the ballot box.
