According to New York Post, the Commander-in-Chief specifically mourned 13 military personnel killed in what he characterized as efforts to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons. Trump made clear his administration’s commitment to ensuring the Islamic Republic never achieves nuclear capability.

The President detailed recent military casualties across different theaters of operation. He noted that 13 service members had been lost total in two recent wars, with all fatalities occurring during Operation Epic Fury. In contrast, Trump pointed to military action in Venezuela as a swift and decisive victory that concluded within a single day without any American casualties.

Ariana Savino, a 31-year-old service member who died in an aircraft refueling accident over Iraq in March, was specifically recognized during the ceremony. Trump asked Savino’s family members to stand and receive applause from those gathered, calling the fallen troops wonderful special people.

The Memorial Day remarks came as the administration continues military operations aimed at countering Iranian influence in the Middle East. Trump has consistently maintained a hardline posture toward Tehran, particularly regarding its nuclear ambitions and designation as a state sponsor of terrorism.
