Trump Refiles Lawsuit Against WSJ Over Epstein Story

President Trump refiled a $10 billion defamation lawsuit against the Wall Street Journal over its publication of claims he sent Jeffrey Epstein a crude birthday card in 2003.

The lawsuit centers on allegations published by the Wall Street Journal last year, according to Breitbart News, which detailed a purported card marking Epstein’s 50th birthday in 2003. The card allegedly featured typewritten text surrounded by a hand-drawn outline of a naked woman sketched in marker, with Trump’s signature positioned below the waist in a manner resembling pubic hair, the report stated.

Donald Trump categorically rejected the claims when they first surfaced, insisting the card was fabricated. This is not me. This is a fake thing, Trump stated, adding that he has never drawn pictures of women in his life and that the language and words did not match his own.

The President issued a direct warning to the Wall Street Journal and media magnate Rupert Murdoch via Truth Social, making clear that he had informed them the letter was fake and that publication would result in legal action.

Vice President JD Vance dismissed the allegations outright, calling them complete and utter fabrication.

The initial defamation suit was dismissed by U.S. district judge Darrin Gayles for Florida’s Southern District, who ruled that the case did not meet the actual malice standard required for public figures pursuing defamation claims. Trump has now refiled the lawsuit, asserting that the defamatory report caused overwhelming financial and reputational damage.

The Trump White House has maintained a firm denial of the accusations. Last September, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt posted on X that the Wall Street Journal’s latest piece proved the entire birthday card story was false. She emphasized that it was clear President Trump neither drew the picture nor signed it.

Leavitt further criticized the reporter behind the story, noting that he requested comment at the exact moment he published the article, leaving no time for a response. She branded the report as fake news designed to perpetuate what she called the Democrat Epstein Hoax.

Trump’s legal team has vowed to aggressively pursue the litigation, as Breitbart News reports.
