Trump: China’s Xi marvels at US becoming ‘hottest country
President Trump said Chinese President Xi Jinping praised America's transformation during their Beijing meetings, calling it the swiftest national revival Xi had ever witnessed.
The commander-in-chief shared details of his private conversations with the Chinese leader during the latest episode of the “Pod Force One” podcast, which was released Wednesday.
Trump told Devine that Xi conveyed deep respect for the rapid transformation the United States has undergone since his return to the White House. The president characterized America’s current standing in emphatic terms, as New York Post reports.
During his historic three-day visit to China last month, Trump said the Chinese president acknowledged the speed and scale of the turnaround. The American leader recounted Xi’s private remarks, noting the Chinese president had never witnessed such a swift national revival.
The president emphasized that he inherited a nation facing serious challenges and has successfully repositioned the United States as the most dynamic and successful country globally. He described his visit to Beijing as highly productive, with Xi demonstrating genuine respect for these achievements.
Trump’s latest comments align with observations he made on Truth Social at the beginning of his China trip. In that post, he acknowledged that two years earlier, under former President Joe Biden, China viewed America as a declining power—an assessment Trump said he agreed with at the time.
The 47th president expressed optimism that relations between Washington and Beijing could reach unprecedented strength moving forward, building on the mutual respect demonstrated during the summit.
When asked by Devine about his desired legacy, Trump provided a straightforward answer focused on national restoration and renewal.
The Chinese leader publicly reciprocated Trump’s praise throughout the visit, marking a notable shift in tone between the two superpowers after years of tension under the previous administration.
