Trump Blasts Federal Judge for Name Removal After Biden Ties Exposed
President Trump attacked Judge Christopher Cooper for blocking his Kennedy Center renaming plan, noting the judge's wife represents Joe Biden as his personal attorney.
President Donald Trump launched a blistering attack on a federal judge whose wife represents Joe Biden, after the jurist blocked his administration’s plan to rename the Kennedy Center and ordered Trump’s name stripped from the building within two weeks.
According to New York Post, US District Court Judge Christopher Cooper ruled Friday that Congress alone holds the authority to change the Kennedy Center’s designation, forcing the administration to remove Trump branding from the venue’s facade. The Obama-appointed judge also blocked plans to shutter the arts facility for a planned two-year renovation.
In a lengthy Truth Social response Saturday, Trump challenged the ruling and highlighted what he characterized as a conflict of interest. The president noted that Cooper’s wife, Amy Jeffress, currently serves as Biden’s personal attorney in ongoing legal matters.
Trump described Cooper as a Trump Hating Judge and characterized the decision as obstructing needed repairs to a building he said contains marble in terrible condition and faces potential structural collapse.
Biden Attorney Connection Raises Questions
Jeffress is representing the former president in his effort to prevent release of audio recordings from his deposition during former special counsel Robert Hur’s classified documents investigation, as New York Post reports. The recordings captured Biden’s interview following the probe into his mishandling of sensitive government materials.
Trump also pointed to Jeffress’s previous work for the Democrat-led House January 6 committee and her representation of fired FBI employee Lisa Page, whom the president labeled a corrupt official.
Renovation Plans Interrupted
The administration had ordered millions of dollars in materials including marble, furniture, steel and climate control systems for what Trump described as a comprehensive restoration of the deteriorating facility. Cooper’s ruling allows closure only if the Kennedy Center’s board formally convenes and evaluates the evidence supporting renovation necessity.
The Kennedy Center announced it would challenge the judicial decision. Trump suggested he may pursue permanent closure of the venue, which Congress designated as a living memorial to President John F. Kennedy.
The Daily Caller first reported on Cooper’s marriage to Jeffress following Friday’s ruling, though Politico had previously disclosed her representation of Biden in July.
