A new documentary featuring Representative Sarah McBride, a biological male identifying as female and representing Delaware’s at-large congressional district, shows the lawmaker declaring victory is imminent for the transgender movement.

McBride became the first transgender individual elected to the United States Congress when Delaware voters sent the former state senator to the House of Representatives in November 2024, as Breitbart News reports.

The documentary trailer, titled State of Firsts, features McBride predicting Republican efforts to restrict bathroom access, claiming the issue extends beyond restrooms to congressional representation itself. The congressman asserts that noncompliance would result in severe political consequences, positioning himself as the sole congressional voice for a million constituents.

The preview also captures Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressing support for McBride’s approach while simultaneously advocating for aggressive confrontation, telling him it remains critical for Americans to witness his political influence.

In a particularly bold statement, McBride frames the transgender movement’s trajectory in historical terms: 50 years ago, they ignored us. 20 years ago, they laughed at us. Now, they’re fighting us. Soon, we win.

The DC/DOX Film Festival has characterized McBride as a victim of MAGA Republicans, according to Breitbart News.

The narrative contrasts sharply with events from March 2025, when Representative Keith Self of Texas received death threats after referring to McBride as “Mister” during a House hearing. The Texas congressman’s factually accurate use of biological terminology sparked violent threats against him, Breitbart News reported.

McBride, formerly known as Tim, has identified as an ordained elder within the Presbyterian Church, a denomination that has embraced progressive theological positions on gender and sexuality. The Presbyterian Church USA represents the most liberal branch of American Presbyterianism, departing from traditional biblical teachings on marriage and human design.
