Three stabbed by knifeman shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ at Swiss station

The suspect, identified as a 31-year-old Swiss national, carried out the attack just after 8:30 a.m. at Winterthur train station outside Zurich, according to New York Post. Zurich Cantonal Police confirmed the assailant used a bladed weapon to stab three victims during the morning rush.

Eyewitnesses reported that a group of schoolchildren had just passed the knife-wielding man when a teacher intervened to shield the vulnerable minors from the unfolding violence.

Everyone was screaming and running away, one witness told Blick, describing the chaos as the attacker brandished his weapon in the crowded station.

Video footage captured by Swiss politician Nils Fiechter and shared on social media shows the disheveled suspect running down the street with one hand raised, repeatedly shouting “Allahu Akbar” as terrified children were rushed to safety by their teachers.

Officers arrived at the scene within minutes and arrested the suspect at the train station before transporting him to a nearby police facility across the street.

Another witness, a student passing through the station at the time, recounted being less than 100 feet from the attack when it occurred. The student told Blick they heard a man shouting “Allahu Akbar” five or six times in what was described as an extremely emotional and agitated manner. The witness admitted to getting goosebumps when reflecting on the incident.

The three victims—Swiss men aged 28, 43, and 52—were transported to hospital for treatment following the assault, police confirmed.

Authorities established a large perimeter around the station to conduct their investigation but have not yet disclosed a motive for the daylight attack.

The incident remains under investigation.
