According to Causeur, the current heatwave has revealed what the outlet describes as the mental derangement of public building designers who have submitted to what they characterize as sectarian environmental dogma. The consequences are now being felt acutely across France’s infrastructure and healthcare system.
The future Hospital of Nantes, scheduled to open next year, has excluded air conditioning from patient rooms entirely. Instead, administrators have opted for bioclimatic facades and vegetated rooftops to theoretically cool the facility. Yet these methods have proven wholly ineffective during periods of intense heat, as Causeur reports.
The SNCF train station in the same city demonstrates the failure of this approach. Its pedestrian bridge was designed to provide passive thermal comfort through bioclimatic choices that excluded air conditioning, which activists deemed guilty of consuming energy and releasing hot air. The result of this choice, which Causeur notes only the Amish in the United States would endorse in their rejection of modernity, is that the station space has become a furnace more severe than the outdoor temperature.
Agricultural Crisis Deepens
French farmers are now facing potential water shortages and deploring the absence of mega-basins that could have collected the heavy rains that fell earlier. These water retention structures have become the target of violent opposition from green militants locked in what critics describe as sectarianism and ignorance of rural realities.
The same ideological forces, according to Causeur, led the left and the Macron administration to sabotage France’s nuclear program while disfiguring landscapes, including marine horizons, with wind turbines that industrialize and concrete over nature.
Radical Environmentalism on Trial
As citizens demand accountability from magistrates for leniency in pedocriminal cases, radical ecologists cannot escape responsibility for what Causeur characterizes as French mistreatment. The outlet calls for accountability from all leaders who have converted to the beliefs of what they describe as an apocalyptic religion with its prohibitions, excommunications, and penances.
By needlessly exposing hospital patients and train station users to climatic hell, these zealots behave as if they want to punish mankind for supposed responsibility in the heat peaks that are indeed now accelerating, the French outlet argues.
Emmanuel Macron inducted Marc Bloch, the resistance fighter and author, into the Pantheon this week. Causeur suggests the president should reread a passage from Bloch’s work Strange Defeat about the 1940 rout that remains current today: Our leaders had not thought through this war, they were suffering its fatality.
While the government ceaselessly warns with environmentalists about the dangers of climate warming, it remains prisoner to unrealistic dogmas and perpetuates improvisation in bureaucratic responses that fictitiously mime a protective state close to the people, two qualities France has not possessed for nearly half a century, according to the analysis.
