The Republican senator contributed a video to the American Tributes project, a collection of original statements from members of Congress, Cabinet officials, and administration figures centered on patriotism and national pride.

Ted Budd emphasized in his remarks how the United States maintains a unique balance between respecting its founding principles and driving forward with cutting-edge innovation. He drew a direct line from the revolutionary rejection of government overreach by the Founding Fathers to the economic dynamism visible in states like his own today.

The senator highlighted that America became the world’s leading nation in creation and advancement specifically because it chose freedom over control. Two and a half centuries ago, the architects of the American republic turned away from excessive regulation and governmental overreach, opting instead to construct a system that would allow citizens to flourish.

Budd pointed to North Carolina as a prime example of where this founding spirit continues to produce tangible results. The state has positioned itself as a national leader in innovation, he noted, boasting world class universities, robust infrastructure, and a highly capable workforce.

The senator observed that migration patterns and business investment decisions reflect this success, with people and capital flowing into the state. He described the atmosphere as one of anticipation for what he termed a blue collar boom on the horizon.

God-Given Rights and Economic Freedom

At the heart of American prosperity, Budd argued, lies a fundamental principle that rights originate from God rather than government. The proper role of the state is to safeguard those inherent rights, ensuring that freedom remains secure, property stays protected, and innovators maintain the ability to take risks and develop new ideas.

When freedom receives proper protection, innovation naturally flourishes, the senator stated. And when innovation flourishes, America leads the world.

America 250 Celebrations

The senator’s tribute arrives as Americans nationwide prepare for celebrations marking the country’s 250th birthday. Freedom 250, an organization dedicated to commemorating the milestone, announced earlier this year that a Great American State Fair will take place on the National Mall from June 25 through July 10.

The American Tributes video series, as Breitbart News reports, forms part of the outlet’s comprehensive America 250 coverage, bringing together voices from across the federal government to express their appreciation for the nation.
