PVV
About
The Party for Freedom (Partij voor de Vrijheid, PVV) was founded in 2006 by Geert Wilders after his break from the center-right VVD. Uniquely, Wilders is the party's sole formal member: he chairs and owns the party foundation, making PVV legally his personal vehicle. The party advocates strict immigration and asylum limits and Dutch identitarian nationalism. In November 2023 PVV won the most seats in Dutch parliamentary elections, and a PVV-supported cabinet took office in 2024.

Geert Wilders has led PVV since 2006. Born in 1963, he is the Netherlands' most prominent and polarizing politician, living under permanent security protection due to sustained death threats. Known internationally for provocative anti-Islam rhetoric, he has spent nearly two decades as the dominant voice of Dutch populist nationalism before finally reaching a position of governmental influence in 2024.
