According to Breitbart News, Raskin made the inflammatory remarks during an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Last Word” with host Lawrence O’Donnell on Thursday evening.

The Maryland Democrat accused the Trump administration of orchestrating what he described as a collusive settlement arrangement after realizing defeat was imminent in pending litigation. Raskin claimed that former judges had performed a public service by intervening to expose the alleged fraud.

The congressman alleged that Trump withdrew from the lawsuit after a judge scheduled a hearing for May 20th to examine whether the case involved collusion. Breitbart News reports that Raskin characterized the subsequent settlement as engineered fraud perpetrated against the nation.

Raskin called on the presiding judge to exercise her authority under Rule 60 to reopen the case, nullify the settlement agreement, and terminate what he termed the whole charade.

The Democrat’s comments represent the latest salvo in ongoing partisan tensions over the Justice Department’s efforts to address what conservatives view as political weaponization of federal law enforcement agencies against Trump and his supporters.

O’Donnell solicited Raskin’s commentary specifically on judicial motions and the potential application of Rule 60 as a mechanism for challenging the settlement.
