New Jersey GOP Uncovers Hundreds of Noncitizens on Voter Rolls
New Jersey Republicans identified hundreds of noncitizens on voter rolls, with some having cast ballots in past elections, prompting the RNC to request voter data from 48 states.
The discovery was made by the New Jersey Republican Party and the Republican National Committee after requesting voter roll data from all 21 counties across the state, as Breitbart News reports. The investigation has raised serious questions about election integrity and the maintenance of voter registration systems in Democrat-controlled states.
The noncitizens were reportedly in the process of seeking naturalization and requested their names be removed from the rolls. A significant number were registered as Democrats, though many claimed they had no knowledge of being registered and expressed concern that the registration could jeopardize their citizenship applications.
The initiative stems from an Election Integrity Task Force launched in May by New Jersey GOP Chairwoman Christine Giordano Hanlon, who emphasized the critical importance of maintaining public trust in the electoral process.
Most troubling, several of the identified noncitizens had documented voting records. One individual removed from the rolls in 2015 had voted in 2000, 2001, and the 2008 general election, demonstrating that illegal voting by noncitizens is not merely theoretical.
RNC Chairman Joe Gruters told Fox News Digital that the hundreds of noncitizen registrants discovered in New Jersey represent only the beginning of a much larger problem. He noted that Democrat-run states have been resistant to disclosing information about their voter registration maintenance procedures. The RNC has now requested such information from 48 states nationwide.
Gruters emphasized that the discoveries are particularly significant because they involve individuals who self-reported their noncitizen status. You want a democracy that’s secure and elections that are free and safe, he stated, underlining the need for public confidence in electoral systems.
This is not the first time New Jersey’s voter rolls have come under scrutiny. In 2022, the Public Interest Legal Foundation found nearly 2,400 registrants on New Jersey’s rolls listed as 105 years old or older, highlighting systemic problems with list maintenance.
The revelations come as President Donald Trump continues pushing Congress to pass the SAVE America Act, which would mandate proof of citizenship for voter registration. The legislation enjoys broad support, with 91 percent backing among Republicans, 50 percent among Democrats, and 69 percent among independents.
Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio recently criticized Congress for failing to pass the SAVE Act, comparing American election procedures unfavorably to those in Colombia. He detailed how Colombian elections require proof of national citizenship, prohibit mail-in voting, use only paper ballots counted by hand, and deliver results within 90 minutes of polls closing—all on a single election day with judges present to adjudicate disputes.
The New Jersey findings underscore conservative arguments that voter roll integrity remains a pressing national concern requiring immediate legislative action and comprehensive state-level reforms.
