Mike Rogers: Common Sense Will Prevail in Working-Class State

According to Breitbart News, Rogers, a former congressman and ex-chairman of the House Intelligence Committee, says his campaign has momentum heading into the final stretch against a fractured Democratic opposition torn between establishment and socialist factions.

The Democratic primary features Rep. Haley Stevens and Abdul El-Sayed locked in a bitter contest that has split the party’s leadership. Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) have endorsed Stevens, while Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren along with Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez back El-Sayed.

Rogers told Breitbart News that both Democratic candidates support electric-vehicle mandates, higher taxes, and allowing males to compete in women’s sports, adding that El-Sayed brings an extra measure of extremism to the race.

He described El-Sayed as the current darling of the Democratic Socialists of America, characterizing his candidacy as evidence of a deep rift between the Democratic Party’s traditional establishment and its increasingly vocal socialist wing.

Ground Game Surpasses One Million Doors

Rogers revealed his campaign recently crossed the one million door-knock threshold across Michigan and expects to hit approximately 200,000 doors weekly by September, as reported by Breitbart News.

The former congressman, who previously worked on an automobile assembly line, said his team is combining door-to-door outreach with digital advertising and direct mail to reach voters in ways Washington political observers aren’t tracking.

When asked which Democrat he would prefer to face, Rogers said his campaign is prepared for either opponent, describing the party as more fractured than he has ever witnessed in Michigan.

Auto Workers Rejecting Socialist Agenda

Rogers said his support among autoworkers surged after El-Sayed secured the United Auto Workers endorsement, which the Republican attributes to El-Sayed’s backing of government-run healthcare, Breitbart News reports.

After the UAW endorsement, Rogers said his phone was flooded with messages from union members who have spent years negotiating strong private healthcare benefits and refuse to surrender their coverage to federal control.

A UAW for Rogers group that was already substantial in size has since exploded in membership, according to the candidate.

EV Mandates Hurt Workers

Rogers also criticized Biden-era electric vehicle policies, arguing they have harmed manufacturers, dealers, and workers by forcing companies to produce vehicles consumers don’t want to buy.

The result, he explained, was financial losses for automakers that directly impacted assembly line workers who lost their bonuses when Americans refused to purchase the mandated electric models in sufficient numbers.

Rogers pointed to a General Motors plant in Lansing that had been slated to replace gasoline-powered Cadillac production with an electric vehicle, a move that would have resulted in workforce reductions. Following changes to federal standards under President Donald Trump, the plant instead moved forward with gas-powered Cadillac production, preserving jobs.

The Republican candidate said consumers should have the freedom to choose electric, hybrid, or gasoline-powered vehicles without Washington dictating what manufacturers must produce.

Common Sense Versus Extremism

Rogers framed the general election as a clear contrast between Democratic extremism and common-sense policies focused on working-class concerns in a state built on manufacturing.

He criticized Stevens’s congressional voting record on EV mandates, tax increases, and transgender sports policies, saying her positions would allow Republicans to focus on manufacturing job losses, rising utility costs, and education failures.

Rogers told Breitbart News that Michigan is a working-class state where common sense will prevail over the radical agenda both Democratic candidates are pushing.
