Mexican Cartel Purchased RPGs, Machine Guns from Czech Republic

Four high-ranking Cartel Jalisco New Generation operatives were extradited from the Czech Republic to face U.S. federal charges for arms trafficking and narcoterrorism.

The men appeared before a federal judge in Florida this week for their initial hearing on charges stemming from an international weapons trafficking operation, according to Breitbart News. The defendants had been apprehended in the Czech Republic and subsequently transferred to American jurisdiction.

Court documents identify the accused as Edgar Alejandro Lopez Velazco, 44, Noe Diaz Jimenez, 33, Leobardo Gaxiola “Bado” Lopez, 63, and Jose Miguel Alvarado Morales, 23. Each faces multiple counts including conspiracy charges tied to terrorism, narcoterrorism, drug trafficking, and illegal firearms trafficking. If convicted, all four could receive life imprisonment.

Federal prosecutors allege Lopez Velazco served as an intermediary for senior CJNG leadership, while Diaz Jimenez operated a fentanyl production facility in Mexico. Gaxiola Lopez allegedly functioned as both an arms dealer and narcotics broker for the cartel, and Alvarado Morales acted as another high-level leader’s representative.

The criminal indictment reveals that in February 2026, Lopez Velazco and Diaz Jimenez arranged the acquisition and transport of rocket-propelled grenades, fully automatic weapons, explosive ordnance, mortars, and additional military-grade armaments from Czech suppliers to Mexico. The weapons purchases were reportedly financed through narcotics that CJNG smuggled into the United States.

International law enforcement coordination led to the arrests of all four suspects in the Czech Republic in June. On June 12 of the same year, Mexican federal police conducted a raid on Diaz Jimenez’s laboratory in Zapopan, Jalisco.

The case underscores the global reach of Mexican drug cartels and their capacity to source sophisticated weaponry from European arms markets while financing operations through cross-border drug trafficking into American communities.
