Meghan McCain Slams ‘View’ Co-Hosts Over ‘Undisciplined’ JD Vance Interview
Former "The View" co-host Meghan McCain harshly criticized the show's panel for unprofessional conduct and factual errors during their contentious Tuesday interview with Vice President JD Vance.
According to New York Post, McCain took to social media platform X to voice her harsh assessment of her former colleagues’ performance during the contentious sitdown with the vice president.
The 41-year-old conservative commentator did not mince words in her evaluation of the interview, stating her main observation was how poorly disciplined the hosts remain even after years on air. She criticized them for getting basic facts wrong, fumbling straightforward questions, and descending into shouting matches during segments.
Representatives for the current “The View” co-hosts had not responded to requests for comment at the time of reporting.
Despite her scathing assessment of the hosts, McCain commended Vance for handling what she characterized as a contentious interview very well.
The vice president appeared on Tuesday’s broadcast alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, and Alyssa Farrah Griffin to promote his new book titled “Communion.” The 41-year-old politician faced questioning on topics ranging from inflation to the Epstein files.
On-Air Tensions Erupt
The interview was marked by visible frustration among the hosts themselves, with Goldberg becoming vocally irritated with her co-hosts during the segment. The 70-year-old actress directed particular criticism at Navarro, 54, who continued her line of questioning despite being asked to stop for a commercial break.
Goldberg also reprimanded Behar during the discussion, attempting to prevent the 83-year-old from posing a follow-up question to Vance. Behar visibly showed her annoyance with Goldberg but raised her hand and proceeded to speak anyway.
Vice President Reflects on Experience
Following the broadcast, Vance shared his thoughts on the interview with Fox News programs, as New York Post reports. He revealed to “Gutfeld!” viewers that Behar had given him what he considered a better compliment than anticipated, telling him he was capable for a Republican.
The vice president admitted he had braced for a harsh reception but found the reality only moderately hostile. He told Fox News Digital he had been skeptical beforehand but maintained an optimistic view that most people deserve an attempt at conversation even amid disagreement, expressing hope the hosts would meet him halfway.
McCain’s Troubled History With Show
McCain served as a co-host on the daytime talk program from 2017 to 2021. Upon her departure, she made clear she had been miserable during her tenure, describing the set as vicious.
The conservative commentator has maintained her critical stance toward her former workplace. In December 2023, she described her former co-hosts using unflattering terms.
McCain promised listeners of her “Citizen McCain” podcast that she would provide a more detailed breakdown of the Vance interview on her show.
