Mamdani-backed House candidate called for borderless world, said ‘Israel doesn’t exist

A far-left New York congressional candidate has been exposed for deleted social media posts calling for abolishing borders, police, and prisons, and denying Israel's existence.

Darializa Avila Chevalier, 32, is challenging sitting Representative Adriano Espaillat in the Democratic primary for New York’s 13th Congressional District scheduled for later this month, according to New York Post. Despite her radical online history, she has secured an endorsement from Mayor Zohran Mamdani.

The newly surfaced posts, retrieved by CNN through the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine from Chevalier’s now-deleted X account, span from 2018 to 2022 and reveal a pattern of extremist political positions.

Denial of Israel and Open Borders Advocacy

In August 2020, Chevalier responded to a post asking users to react if Israel suddenly disappeared. Her reply was unequivocal: Trick question — Israel doesn’t exist!

During a three-day social media spree in September 2021 focused on illegal immigration, Chevalier declared that a world without borders, prisons, or police was the only moral path forward. She later made her position crystal clear, stating that all deportation is wrong and calling for borders to be literally abolished, as New York Post reports.

Communist Economic Positions

Chevalier’s archived posts also advocated for openly communist policies. At the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, she shared messages demanding the nationalization of hospitals, utilities, and pharmaceutical companies, along with suspending rent and mortgage payments, dismantling insurance companies, and seizing all properties from landlords.

In a separate 2019 post, she urged followers to seize the means of production without any additional context.

Extreme Anti-Police Stance

During the 2020 unrest following George Floyd’s death, Chevalier rejected any softening of radical anti-police messaging. When another user asked if the movement had a better slogan than “defund the police,” she responded with profanity and insisted on both defunding and abolishing law enforcement.

Two days later, she corrected someone who suggested the movement merely wanted to end policing “as we know it,” clarifying that it meant ending policing completely and permanently.

Attacks on Establishment Figures

Chevalier’s previous controversial posts, already known before these latest revelations, included calling President Joe Biden a rapist and war criminal during the 2020 election, describing the United States as a disgrace, and making offensive remarks about interracial relationships.

Even fellow leftists have drawn her ire. She accused Senator Bernie Sanders of promoting liberal Zionism and criticized Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for voting present on Israeli military funding.

Candidate and Supporter Respond

In response to the report, Chevalier accused Espaillat of attempting to distract voters in Manhattan and the Bronx from real issues. She claimed to have grown considerably since posting the messages and said she remains focused on the community’s future.

Mamdani stood by his endorsement, arguing that Chevalier will fight corporate greed, bad landlords, and Washington’s broken political system on behalf of working families seeking affordable living in New York City.
