Maher: Left Can’t Stand Talking with Other Side
Bill Maher criticized the political left on HBO's "Real Time" for refusing to engage in dialogue with opposing views during a discussion about a meeting between Jared Kushner and Rep. Hakeem Jeffries.
During a Friday broadcast of his HBO programme “Real Time,” Maher made the candid observation whilst discussing a recent meeting between Jared Kushner and Representative Hakeem Jeffries, a Democrat from New York, according to Breitbart News.
The exchange unfolded as Florida Representative Byron Donalds, a Republican who ran for his state’s governorship, pointed out the asymmetric reaction to the Kushner-Jeffries meeting along partisan lines. Donalds noted that Jeffries appeared to adopt a defensive posture because Democratic Party members were exhibiting alarm over the encounter.
Donalds emphasised that Republicans showed no similar distress about the meeting, contrasting their composure with the anxious response from Democratic quarters. He specifically referenced political strategist James Carville as an example of Democratic consternation over the engagement.
It was at this juncture that Maher interjected with his unvarnished assessment of the contemporary left’s unwillingness to participate in cross-party discourse. It is always the left that can’t stand to talk, the host declared, openly acknowledging the pattern of progressive resistance to engaging with ideological opponents.
