Leftists laugh as Weidel speaks about abused girls in Bundestag
A German Left Party lawmaker laughed during a parliamentary speech about migrant gangs allegedly drugging and prostituting underage girls, sparking outrage.
According to Junge Freiheit, the incident occurred during a Bundestag session when AfD leader Alice Weidel was responding to a government statement by Chancellor Friedrich Merz of the CDU. Weidel used the opportunity to criticize the government’s migration policies and their impact on public safety.
During her address, Weidel referenced a case from Nuremberg’s main railway station where young men from Syria, Iraq, Pakistan, and North African countries allegedly targeted girls aged between 13 and 18 from disadvantaged backgrounds. The suspects reportedly forced the minors into drug dependency before compelling them into prostitution.
As Weidel detailed these allegations, the chamber erupted in heckling and interruptions. While the live broadcast did not immediately identify the source of laughter, the official Bundestag protocol later confirmed that Left Party parliamentarian Katrin Fey had been laughing at that precise moment.
Fey serves as her faction’s spokesperson for civil and human rights, is a senior member of the Committee on Human Rights and Humanitarian Aid, and sits on the Interior Committee. The protocol also recorded an interjection from Green Party MP Mayra Vriesema during the same exchange.
Weidel continued her speech despite the disruptions, asking how many such cases exist across Germany and what the political establishment had done to the country through mass migration and moral decay. The chamber remained tense, with additional heckling from both Left and Green parliamentarians while AfD members applauded their leader.
In her broader remarks, Weidel had characterized Merz’s government statement as the swan song of a failed administration. She accused the government of economic policy failures, unchecked immigration into the welfare system, and a catastrophic deportation record.
The AfD chief argued that for those not living in an insulated bubble, violent crimes, sexual offenses, and brutal attacks are not cold statistics but daily companions of fear and concern for children.
Weidel also targeted Federal Labor Minister Bärbel Bas of the SPD, who recently caused controversy by claiming that no one immigrates into Germany’s social systems and by using the term “uniform brown” in political discourse. Weidel declared that anyone who speaks this way hates their own country and themselves and has no place in government.
The incident has drawn sharp criticism on social media, with commentators highlighting the protocol’s documentation of Fey’s reaction to descriptions of alleged child sexual exploitation by migrant perpetrators.
