Los Angeles radio host John Kobylt accused California progressives of rigging electoral systems and profiting from a corrupt homeless industrial complex that has destroyed the city's quality of life.
John Kobylt, host of the John Kobylt Show on KFI in Los Angeles, published a blistering commentary outlining how progressives have allegedly rigged the electoral system while enriching themselves through billions in taxpayer-funded homeless programs, as New York Post reports.
According to Kobylt, the transformation began in 2018 under former Governor Jerry Brown and accelerated under current Governor Gavin Newsom. The Democratic supermajority in the California Legislature created an entirely new electoral system, he states, which was dramatically expanded in 2020 using the COVID-19 pandemic as cover to mail ballots to everyone on voter rolls.
What officials promised would be temporary pandemic measures became permanent fixtures of California elections. The Legislature added additional changes as recently as 2026, Kobylt notes.
Homeless Industry Accused of Vote Manipulation
The radio host reserves particular criticism for what he calls the “homeless industry,” which he alleges emotionally manipulated voters into accepting responsibility for drug addicts and mentally ill individuals who migrated to California from across the country.
Investigative journalist Christopher Rufo estimates that approximately two-thirds of street homeless in Los Angeles come from out of town, with half originating from out of state, according to Kobylt’s account.
Progressives convinced voters to approve billions in new taxes, then established or partnered with hundreds of nonprofit organizations to collect the funding, the host explains. Tens of thousands now live on the streets, with thousands dying annually, while taxpayers fund meth pipes, crack pipes, syringes, and the drugs themselves.
Voter Registration Irregularities Alleged
The California Legislature created a system allowing nonprofit employees and others to register homeless individuals to vote on the streets, Kobylt states. Vagrant addresses are often listed as the nonprofit facility itself. One shelter reportedly had 1,160 registered voters despite having only 120 beds.
As The California Post previously reported, multiple men and women living on Skid Row claimed they received payment to vote for Mayor Karen Bass or Councilwoman Nithya Raman. Homeless individuals told reporters they were given cigarettes or money in exchange for signatures and voter registrations.
Kobylt argues this ensures the homeless industry will continue receiving billions in funding under either Bass or Raman, while the money disappears without accountability.
Public Safety and Infrastructure Consequences
The veteran broadcaster warns that police and fire departments will remain chronically underfunded as resources flow to nonprofit organizations. Potholes will multiply, sidewalks will deteriorate, and streetlights will stay dark, he predicts. The pervasive fear of random attacks by mentally unstable individuals will persist.
This deterioration is what Spencer Pratt had been highlighting before being removed from political contention, Kobylt suggests.
The radio host describes how he and his wife can no longer walk on beaches, stroll in parks, attend downtown theater performances, or shop without constant vigilance for threatening behavior and human waste. The Palisades neighborhood has been destroyed, along with friends’ homes and favorite restaurants.
Kobylt concludes his commentary by stating some Angelenos may leave to rejoin civilization elsewhere.
