Jill Biden Spokesman Says Ex-First Lady Trying to Rewrite History

A former Jill Biden spokesman accused her of rewriting history after she claimed she feared her husband was having a stroke during his disastrous June 2024 debate with Donald Trump.

Michael LaRosa, who previously served as spokesman for Jill Biden, told reporters that the former first lady is now trying to reshape public perception of her initial response to the president’s widely criticized debate showing, according to New York Post.

LaRosa suggested the former first lady is working to alter the historical record of her reaction to that pivotal evening. He noted that she now wants the public to believe her response was as alarmed and concerned as that of ordinary Americans watching at home.

The criticism centers on a stark contradiction between Jill Biden’s public statements immediately following the debate and her recent revelations to CBS Sunday Morning. In June 2024, she told her husband in front of cheering supporters that he had done a great job and knew all the facts.

Nearly two years later, however, she told CBS that while watching the debate she thought her husband was having a stroke, adding that the possibility terrified her.

LaRosa said Jill Biden served as the initial public face and voice of the administration’s response to widespread concerns about the debate. Had she expressed her genuine alarm at the time, he noted, it would have represented a more authentic human response.

Republicans seized on Biden’s debate performance as clear evidence that cognitive decline had rendered him unfit to serve as commander in chief. Democrats maintained the debate represented an isolated incident rather than a broader pattern.

Alex Thompson, a reporter for Axios, cast doubt on the former first lady’s recent characterization. Thompson stated that Biden administration aides told him and CNN’s Jake Tapper that they had witnessed similar episodes from the president both before and after the debate. Those moments became increasingly difficult to anticipate and hide from public view, Thompson said, citing research conducted for “Original Sin,” a book examining Biden’s presidency.
