Jane Fonda Plans Counter-Event to Trump’s UFC White House Gala
Jane Fonda will lead a "Rise Up, Sing Out" counter-event in New York City on June 14 to oppose President Trump's UFC Freedom 250 celebration scheduled for the same day in Washington D.C.
The Hollywood activist, infamously known as “Hanoi Jane” following her support for communist forces during the Vietnam War in the 1970s, is organizing a “Rise Up, Sing Out” gathering in New York City to directly oppose the President’s major UFC event planned for Washington D.C., according to Breitbart News.
Jane Fonda told Reuters that she views the moment as historically significant, stating she refuses to be among those who simply complain about conditions rather than taking action. This is our documentary moment, she declared, insisting she wants to be at the forefront of opposition.
The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday and features appearances by fellow Hollywood liberals including Julia Roberts, Lily Gladstone, Bette Midler, Patti Smith, and Rufus Wainwright.
The event website frames the gathering as a choice between what organizers characterize as “strongman politics and corruption” versus Americans uniting across various demographics to defend rights and build a future centered on “people power.” The site declares that on June 14, participants will rise up, sing out, and continue organizing.
Both the left-wing concert and the UFC’s Freedom 250 event are scheduled to coincide with President Trump’s 80th birthday.
Fonda has maintained a consistent pattern of attacking President Trump throughout his time in office, joining a chorus of Hollywood elites in opposing his administration at every turn.
In March, the extremist actress claimed Trump was stripping away Americans’ rights and transforming the United States into a “banana Republic,” as reported by Breitbart News.
During an appearance on CNN’s The Source, she launched into a tirade about alleged attacks on the arts, including writers, painters, museums, the National Endowment of the Arts, and state arts councils. She accused the President of defunding these institutions and firing people with whom he disagrees, while threatening networks with license revocations over coverage he dislikes. She characterized these actions as typical of banana republics and totalitarian countries.
That same month, Fonda publicly questioned President Trump’s mental stability, despite having no medical credentials to make such assessments.
President Trump has consistently received clean bills of health in his medical examinations, directly contradicting the actress’s unfounded claims.
The activist has also expanded her political crusade to the business sector, opposing the proposed merger between Paramount Skydance and Warner Brothers Discovery, branding the corporate deal a “threat to democracy.”
