Explosions and anti-aircraft activity reported in strategic areas of the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iranian media – U.S. official confirms attacks.

Tensions in the Middle East have sharply escalated following reports of a series of explosions on Iranian soil. Iranian media report that American strikes targeted an island and a coastal city near the Strait of Hormuz.

The state broadcaster IRIB, citing a military official, reported a U.S. attack on an Iranian tanker in the area. According to the same source, the Iranian military responded by launching missiles against enemy units. These units reportedly sustained damages and withdrew.

Air defense systems were activated in multiple locations. The Mehr news agency reported that they were operational in Tehran, while new explosions were heard in Bandar Abbas. Similar reports emerged from Minab, east of Bandar Abbas.

On the island of Qeshm, the explosions were attributed by the Mizan news agency to defensive actions against small drones. Mehr added that two enemy drones were shot down over Bandar Abbas and Qeshm.

U.S. Confirmation

A U.S. official told Fox News that the U.S. military carried out attacks in the Bandar Abbas and Qeshm areas.

No details were provided regarding the specific targets. The official emphasized that these actions do not constitute a resumption of war.

The information is mainly sourced from Iranian outlets and one American statement, while the situation remains fluid.
