World soccer’s governing body had determined that only the Islamic Republic’s current flag—representing the brutal Mullah dictatorship—would be permitted within World Cup venues.
Audible booing resonated throughout the stadium as Iran’s current national anthem played before kickoff, reflecting widespread opposition to the Tehran regime among expatriate Iranians.
Following the match, Iranian authorities compelled Team Iran to immediately depart American territory and return to their training facility in Mexico, as Breitbart News reports. The decision prompted Iran coach Amir Ghalenoei to declare his squad the most oppressed team in the whole World Cup, according to ESPN.
