Iran Designates Elon Musk’s Middle East SpaceX as Military Target
Iran has declared all Elon Musk business operations in the Middle East legitimate military targets, focusing on SpaceX's Starlink infrastructure it claims supports U.S. military operations.
Iranian state media outlet Fars announced the designation on Thursday, according to Breitbart News, with particular focus on SpaceX’s Starlink satellite internet infrastructure. A regional Starlink ground station has been specifically identified among the assets now considered targets by the Iranian regime.
The announcement, published on Fars’ Telegram channel, stated that Tehran views all economic holdings managed by Elon Musk in West Asia as legitimate targets for retaliation. The regime justified the threats by claiming Starlink has provided critical support to U.S. military operations against Iranian interests.
Iranian authorities allege the satellite internet service has enabled various high-tech American military equipment, including aerial attack drones and unmanned surveillance and strike vessels used in operations the regime claims have targeted Iran.
An informed source quoted by Fars declared that Iran reserves the right to strike any facilities connected to Musk-managed holdings throughout the region and what the regime refers to as occupied territories. The source accused the United States of committing war crimes against Iran with the support of companies under Musk’s control.
Pattern of Threats Against American Tech Giants
This represents the latest in a series of hostile declarations from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard against major American technology companies. The paramilitary organization has previously issued warnings targeting other prominent U.S. tech firms including Nvidia, Apple, Microsoft, and Google.
The timing of the Iranian threats is notable, coming just one day before SpaceX’s anticipated initial public offering. Musk has been promoting his ambitious vision of artificial intelligence data centers operating in space as justification for the company’s projected high valuation.
In recent statements, Musk characterized current satellite designs as draft iterations of future operational systems, noting they are significantly less complex than the Starlink satellites SpaceX has been deploying since 2019. Much of the underlying technology leverages systems already developed for the satellite internet service.
