According to Breitbart News, Flood (R-NE) appeared on CNN’s “The Lead” to discuss the intersection of domestic inflation and geopolitical tensions affecting energy markets. The Nebraska representative stated that “prices are too high. The gas price is too high. Grocery prices are high,” while emphasizing his commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear or radiological weapons capabilities.

Flood highlighted the administration’s efforts to reduce fuel costs, noting that substantial price decreases were achieved in the previous year through energy independence initiatives. He connected current pricing pressures directly to instability in the Persian Gulf region, particularly threats to shipping lanes through the Strait of Hormuz.

Timeline for Resolution Extends Beyond Initial Agreements

The congressman cautioned against expecting immediate relief even if diplomatic or military developments resolve regional tensions quickly. Flood explained that restoring normal commercial traffic through critical shipping corridors would require an additional one to two months following any settlement.

“I do see light at the end of the tunnel, and I’m hopeful that we can land the plane and finish this operation in Iran,” Flood told CNN, characterizing the situation as manageable but requiring sustained effort.

He emphasized that long-term strategic positioning through energy investments would ultimately benefit American consumers and strengthen national security alongside allied nations.
