Illegal Alien Accused of Raping Teen in Random New York Attack
An illegal immigrant from El Salvador who evaded deportation for over 20 years faces rape charges after allegedly assaulting a 16-year-old girl in Huntington, New York.
Aureliano Antonio Melendez Reyes, an illegal alien who has evaded deportation for over two decades, was arrested in Huntington, New York, and charged with rape, sexual abuse, and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Breitbart News.
The attack occurred on June 6 when the teenage victim was walking home. Police report that Reyes approached the girl and requested her phone number. When she refused his advance, Reyes allegedly forced her into an alleyway where he sexually assaulted her.
The young victim managed to fight off her attacker and placed a 911 call while Reyes pursued her, law enforcement officials said. Officers responding to the emergency call arrived at the scene and took Reyes into custody.
Federal Officials Demand State Cooperation
Department of Homeland Security officials are now pressuring New York Governor Kathy Hochul to intervene personally and guarantee that Reyes is transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement custody rather than released back onto American streets.
Lauren Bis, a DHS spokesperson, condemned the attack and warned against the dangers posed by sanctuary state policies. This sexual predator never should have been in our country and able to prey on this innocent girl, Bis stated.
Bis directly challenged New York’s political leadership to prevent Reyes from being released from jail, demanding that sanctuary politicians turn the accused rapist over to ICE agents. She emphasized that New York officials must not release criminals from jail back into communities.
Decades of Immigration Enforcement Failure
Federal records reveal that Reyes entered the United States illegally as an unknown got-away, meaning he evaded Border Patrol detection at the time of entry. A federal immigration judge issued Reyes a final deportation order in July 1998, but he was never removed from the country.
The case highlights ongoing tensions between federal immigration enforcement and sanctuary jurisdictions that limit cooperation with ICE, potentially allowing criminal aliens to remain in American communities despite deportation orders.
