Howard Dean Compares MAGA Supporters to Hitler Loyalists

During a Monday appearance on MSNBC’s “The Beat,” Howard Dean made the inflammatory comparison while discussing the political landscape and Trump’s base of support, according to Breitbart News.

Dean characterized MAGA supporters as intractable, stating they will be there forever, much like those who accompanied Hitler to his bunker and maintained their allegiance even on the day of his suicide. He predicted this group would become smaller over time.

When host Ari Melber interjected to note some differences in what the groups are supporting, Dean doubled down on his position. He rejected the notion of significant distinctions, asserting that fascism is fascism and claiming Trump fundamentally believes in fascism.

Melber again attempted to push back, suggesting they could have a larger debate on the topic and emphasizing that there are indeed some differences between the situations.

Dean acknowledged a big difference in outcomes but continued his line of argument by referencing Trump’s rhetoric on immigration. He then pivoted to discuss what he characterized as Trump’s larger electoral problem: voters who supported the president out of anger at Democrats or economic dissatisfaction rather than ideological commitment.

The former DNC chairman went on to critique his own party, suggesting Democrats remain too focused on Washington insiders and need to become an outside-the-Beltway organization. He expressed enthusiasm for younger candidates entering the political arena, even those challenging Democratic incumbents he personally supports.

The remarks represent the latest instance of prominent Democrats employing extreme Nazi comparisons against Trump and his supporters, a rhetorical strategy that has become increasingly common in progressive political discourse.
