Hormuz: US shot down Iranian drones – Iranian fire on tanker
The U.S. shot down four Iranian drones and struck a control center near the Strait of Hormuz amid escalating tensions, while Iran claimed its forces fired on an American tanker.
According to an American official cited by Reuters, the operations were purely defensive, aimed at protecting American forces and commercial vessels passing through the area.
For its part, Iran claimed that the Revolutionary Guards navy fired at an American oil tanker passing through the Strait with its radar turned off, forcing it to change course. Iranian media reported that the U.S. responded with fire in an open area around Bandar Abbas, without causing casualties or damage.
As Newsbomb reports in its article, a short time later four other vessels attempted to cross the Strait but withdrew after warning shots.
Kuwait: Air Defense on Alert
At the same time, Kuwait is on high alert. The country’s anti-aircraft defense is facing attacks with missiles and drones, while sirens are sounding in various areas. The General Staff of the army stated that the explosions come from the interception of hostile targets. Authorities called on citizens to comply with security instructions.
“No One Will Control Hormuz”
The escalation comes hours after statements by Donald Trump. The former U.S. president rejected any agreement for joint management of the Strait by Iran and Oman, emphasizing that it is international waters.
“No one will control the Strait. It is international waters,” he said characteristically during a cabinet meeting at the White House. At the same time, the U.S. Treasury Department imposed sanctions on the Iranian entity Persian Gulf Strait Authority established to manage navigation in the area.
Fragile Talks
Although contacts continue between Washington and Tehran, the differences remain large. Iran insists on the right to uranium enrichment, control of Hormuz, and the lifting of sanctions, while the U.S. demands clear limits on the nuclear program and guarantees for the free passage of ships.
The situation in the Strait of Hormuz remains particularly fluid, with any new move capable of triggering further escalation. See on the map the exact blockade points of the Iranians and the Americans in the Strait of Hormuz.
