Gay Teacher Accused of Sadistic Murder of Infant to Be Adopted with Partner
A 37-year-old teacher stands accused in the UK of brutally abusing and causing the death of a 13-month-old infant he sought to adopt with his partner, exposing grave failures in child protection systems.
A 37-year-old secondary school teacher is charged with the murder of 13-month-old Preston Davey, the infant he was set to adopt with his 32-year-old partner, according to the Daily Mail.
The trial underway at Preston Court in England brings to light a case that is shocking. Jamie Varley is alleged to have subjected the small child to systematic abuse over several months, until the child’s death by suffocation ended his suffering.
Horrific Abuse with 40 Injuries
Forensic examinations revealed 40 injuries on the infant’s body, internal damage, and severe sexual assaults. Three weeks before his death, the defendant had broken the child’s elbow. The couple managed to conceal the marks, attributing them to accidents each time the child ended up in the hospital.
At the same time the baby struggled to breathe for the last time, Varley did not call for help. Instead, he began recording videos with his mobile phone.
Videos Showing Sadistic Behavior
Among the materials found, the teacher appears to be enjoying himself while torturing the child. He deprived the baby of sleep by playing loud music or violently spinning him around in a playground. He even added Kylie Minogue songs as background to the videos.
His partner, John McGowan-Fazakerley, is accused of knowing about the dangerous behavior but did nothing to protect the infant. The system completely failed to intervene, despite clear signs of danger.
The trial continues and is expected to shed even more light on the case. The teacher accused of murdering the infant had managed to gain access to the child, while the authorities were unable to save him from the hands of those who were supposed to become his parents.
