Fauci Allegedly Funded Wuhan Research That Created COVID-19
Tulsi Gabbard released classified documents alleging Anthony Fauci manipulated intelligence on COVID-19 origins, misled Congress, and concealed U.S. funding of risky virus research in China.
According to Nius, the Office of the Director of National Intelligence released materials suggesting that Fauci exerted influence over U.S. intelligence community evaluations of the coronavirus’s origins while simultaneously concealing his own involvement in financing the research that may have sparked the pandemic.
In a video statement released on Friday via X, Gabbard outlined serious allegations against Fauci stemming from his tenure as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. She stated that Fauci had authorized millions of dollars in U.S. taxpayer funds for dangerous bat coronavirus research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology prior to the pandemic outbreak.
The intelligence chief indicated that this research is now widely regarded as the probable source of an accidental laboratory leak that triggered the global pandemic. The newly declassified documents purportedly demonstrate that Fauci collaborated with politicized leadership figures within the intelligence apparatus to suppress the lab leak hypothesis and obscure both his role and the American financing of gain-of-function research.
Alleged Perjury Before Congress
Gabbard accused Fauci of providing false testimony to Congress in 2024 while under oath. According to the intelligence director, Fauci denied having knowledge of or participating in discussions with intelligence officials regarding virus research, a claim the declassified materials allegedly contradict.
Multiple whistleblowers from within the intelligence community have reportedly come forward describing retaliation they faced after challenging the official assessment of the virus’s origins. Intelligence analysts who supported the laboratory leak theory or offered dissenting evaluations were subjected to professional pressure, career disadvantages, and marginalization, according to the accounts presented by Gabbard.
Three Roles in the Scandal
The Director of National Intelligence outlined what she described as three distinct roles Fauci played in the affair. First, he authorized funding for dangerous gain-of-function research. Second, he worked behind the scenes to shape intelligence assessments regarding the virus’s origin. Third, he served as the public face of the pandemic response while allegedly spreading misinformation and promoting censorship of dissenting scientific views.
Gabbard characterized the document release as part of President Donald Trump‘s broader transparency initiative. She stated that the American people deserve truth and accountability after years of what she termed lies, censorship, and cover-ups surrounding the pandemic’s origins and the government’s response.
The allegations add to mounting scrutiny of the official narrative surrounding COVID-19’s emergence and the extent to which American institutions may have suppressed legitimate scientific inquiry into a possible laboratory origin for political or reputational reasons.
