DHS: Illegal Alien Led Failed Terror Plot Against White House UFC Event
Federal authorities arrested Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, an illegal alien from Mexico, for allegedly masterminding a foiled terrorist plot targeting a UFC event at the White House on June 14.
Abraham Hermosillo Alvarez, a 31-year-old Mexican national, allegedly masterminded a conspiracy involving explosive-equipped drones and a coordinated attack aimed at killing President Donald Trump, senior government officials, and hundreds of attendees at the UFC Freedom 250 event, according to Breitbart News.
The Department of Homeland Security released a detailed statement on Friday confirming Alvarez’s arrest by the FBI on the day of the event and outlining his lengthy unlawful presence in the United States. Alvarez entered the country on a B2 tourist visa which expired in 2001, but was later granted protection under the Obama administration’s Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has filed a detainer against the suspect. DHS emphasized in its statement that Alvarez should never have been allowed in our country and pledged to ensure he faces prosecution and removal.
The FBI successfully disrupted the terror plot and took five suspects into custody. According to law enforcement sources, the conspiracy involved a two-phase attack: explosive-laden drones were to strike nearby buildings to create mass panic and stampede attendees toward a prepared sniper team positioned to inflict maximum casualties.
One suspect in custody told investigators the plot was motivated by hostility toward capitalist elites, billionaires, and politicians who accept funding from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, as Breitbart News reports.
FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed that the Bureau and its law enforcement partners first became aware of the threat on June 10, four days before the scheduled event. A rapid multi-state operation led to the arrests and prevented what could have been a catastrophic mass casualty incident.
Patel praised the investigative response while noting such work is routine for the agency, which is designed to detect and neutralize threats to American citizens, particularly during large public gatherings.
Alex Marlow, Breitbart’s editor-in-chief, discussed the plot on his show this week, describing the attack plan as horrifying and noting the calculated nature of using drone strikes to drive victims into a kill zone.
Federal investigators are now examining the potential involvement of more than 20 additional individuals who may have had knowledge of or participated in planning the failed attack, according to the New York Post.
