Crockett Claims ICE Officers Make America Unsafe, Not Criminals
Texas Representative Jasmine Crockett claimed federal immigration officers pose a greater threat to communities than criminals, sparking controversy over Democratic rhetoric on enforcement.
Representative Jasmine Crockett of Texas made the inflammatory remarks during a Wednesday appearance on CNN’s Laura Coates Live, according to Breitbart News, where she launched a broadside attack against the current administration’s immigration enforcement operations.
The Texas Democrat accused cabinet officials of lacking credibility and serving merely as loyalists to the president rather than upholding the law independently. She claimed they take their direction from social media posts rather than following proper legal procedures.
Crockett went further, suggesting that ongoing confirmation hearings for new appointees carry particular importance because the nation requires officials who will prioritize legal compliance over personal allegiance to the administration.
In her most striking statement, the congresswoman defended against concerns about public safety by redirecting blame toward law enforcement itself. She alleged that the previous Department of Homeland Security secretary departed following what she characterized as reckless operations resulting in civilian casualties.
It’s not the people in the streets that are making our neighborhoods unsafe, it is the officers that they have put into our communities that are making us unsafe, Crockett declared.
The remarks represent an escalation in Democratic rhetoric against immigration enforcement operations, which have intensified under the current administration’s focus on removing illegal aliens from American communities.
Critics of such statements argue they undermine law enforcement efforts to address rising crime rates in cities across the country and mischaracterize the legitimate role of federal officers in maintaining public safety and enforcing immigration law.
