CNN’s Abby Phillip Slams Biden Admin Over Jill’s Health Cover-Up
CNN host Abby Phillip criticized the Biden administration for allegedly covering up the president's health after Jill Biden revealed she feared her husband was having a stroke during his 2024 debate.
Abby Phillip, host of CNN’s “NewsNight,” confronted the issue head-on during her Wednesday broadcast after Jill Biden made what Phillip called a stunning admission in an upcoming interview with CBS Sunday Morning, according to New York Post.
Phillip did not mince words about the administration’s handling of Biden’s condition. She questioned what kind of political system enables officials to lie to the American people about something everyone could see with their own eyes.
In a preview clip from the CBS interview scheduled to air this week, Jill Biden described watching her husband’s dismal debate showing against former President Donald Trump, during which Joe Biden repeatedly stumbled over words and lost his train of thought entirely.
The former first lady told CBS correspondent Rita Braver that she was not horrified but frightened by what she witnessed. She stated she had never seen her husband in such a condition before or since that night. As she watched the debate unfold, she thought he might be having a stroke, which terrified her, as New York Post reports.
Phillip noted the stark contrast between this admission and Jill Biden’s behavior immediately following that same debate. CNN aired footage showing the former first lady standing beside her husband onstage, enthusiastically praising his performance to a crowd of Democratic supporters as if nothing concerning had occurred.
In that post-debate appearance, Jill Biden told the crowd that Joe had done a great job, answered every question, and knew all the facts, while accusing Trump of lying throughout the evening.
The CNN host emphasized that this marks the first time Jill Biden has expressed any concern about the debate that ultimately ended her husband’s 2024 campaign. Phillip argued that the conversation about the administration’s deceptiveness needed to happen, noting that the Democratic Party’s internal review following the election failed to adequately address this issue.
During the panel discussion, Phillip reminded viewers that news organizations had reported on Biden’s health concerns well before recent books detailed the extent of the cover-up. She specifically cited a Wall Street Journal investigation into Biden’s health that faced relentless attacks from the Biden White House at the time.
The revelation adds to mounting evidence that Biden’s inner circle deliberately concealed the president’s cognitive decline from the American public throughout much of his term, raising serious questions about transparency and accountability at the highest levels of government.
