Challenges in Almy, Sounio, and Bursa The Ankara Network in Thrace
A coordinated campaign in Thrace and Bursa showcased Turkish nationalist symbols and rhetoric challenging Greek sovereignty, with local Muslim minority events backed by some Greek MPs and Turkish state-linked figures.
REVEALED: Ankara’s Network in Xanthi and Bursa – Provocative Celebrations with “Turkish” Flags and Parliamentary Cover
A coordinated operation to promote Turkish nationalist symbols and challenge Greek sovereignty took place last weekend, centered in Thrace and Bursa. Behind the cover of religious ceremonies and social events, Ankara’s agents attempted to reinforce an image of the Muslim minority’s “Turkification,” even having the physical presence and indirect support of Greek parliamentarians.
The “Chronicle” of the Provocation in Xanthi: Alma and Sounio
On Sunday, May 3, 2026, the Xanthi area witnessed an organized attempt to impose Turkish emblems in public view. During the graduation ceremonies (hatim) of local Quranic Schools, the illegal Pseudomufti of Xanthi set the tone for a clearly political demonstration.
1. Alma Settlement (Agnila): Banner for “Turkish Minority”
In the settlement of Alma (in Turkish Agnila), the provocation took on an official character. At the ceremony held in the local mosque, a central banner (see im1777886363.jpg) was displayed with capital letters reading: “TURKISH MINORITY OF WESTERN THRACE – PSEUDOMUFTI OF XANTHI – QURANIC SCHOOL AGNILA”.
The event was led by:
-
The Xanthi parliamentarians Husein Zeibek (New Left) and Burhan Baran (independent).
-
The President of the “Turkish Union of Xanthi,” Kerem Abdurahimoglu.
-
The educators of the pseudomufti, Hasan Velibasa and Mehmet Kir, who prepared the students.
-
The Personnel Director of the pseudomufti, Moustafa Kamo, who performed the “hatim duası” (graduation prayer) and spoke about the importance of the “spiritual development” of the children according to their own agenda.
2. Sounio (Sünnetçiköy): The Operation Continues
A similar scene was set up in Sounio, where the presence of parliamentarians Zeibek and Baran was again prominent. The preparation was the responsibility of the preacher Abdullah Tsolak and the imam Selahattin Bayram, while the speech was given by the Director of Religious Services of the illegal structure, Rıdvan Topçu. Representatives from the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace were also present, along with a large crowd.
The Bursa Front: Flags of “Independence” and TIKA
At the same time, in Bursa, Turkey, the masks fell definitively. At an event of the Association of Solidarity for Western Thrace Turks (BTTDD) for Mother’s Day, the wife of the pseudomufti of Xanthi, Nandire Ömer Tramba, was photographed in front of the Turkish flag and the flag of the so-called “Independent Western Thrace”.
High-ranking officials directly linked to the Turkish state apparatus participated in the event:
-
Güzin Eren, mother of the President of TIKA (Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency, the body promoting investments and influence abroad), Abdullah Eren.
-
Dr. Fatma Azizoglu, President of the Women’s Section of BTTDD Bursa.
-
Sevim Karaömer, who acted as hostess and received thanks from the pseudomufti’s wife.
As described by the organizers themselves, the atmosphere was “family-like,” aiming at the “preservation of cultural ties,” although the use of emblems referring to the secession of parts of Thrace indicates something much darker.
