What does the AKP have to do with Thrace children’s education?

Pro-Erdoğan officials met in Edirne to organize education for Greek Muslim children in Thrace, raising questions about Turkish interference in Greece.

An extremely revealing, if expected, turn is taking place in the recent mobilization of the pro-Erdoğan regime at the Greek-Turkish border, against the backdrop of the organization of the so-called “Education Support Platform” (Eğitime Destek Platformu) in Edirne (Adrianople).

This meeting, which took place over the two-day period of July 5 and 6, 2026, brings to light the deep backstage of Ankara’s ideological, political and religious penetration, directly connecting the pro-Erdoğan system with the well-known pro-consulate establishment of Komotini and Xanthi.

The fundamental question that arises relentlessly for every thinking citizen in Thrace is one: What exactly is the relationship between the ruling party of Turkey (AKP), its deep state structures, and its internal party mechanisms with the education of the Greek Muslim children of Thrace?

The Chronicle of the Meeting, the Religious High School and the Distinguished Guests

The weekend of July 5, 2026, Edirne was transformed into an operational coordination center of the Erdoğanist mechanism.

Under the organizational responsibility of the local platform coordinator, Ahmet Çetin, the meeting was not hosted in some neutral academic institution, but at the Akmercan Anatolian Project Imam Hatip Religious High School (Akmercan Anadolu Proje İHL). The venue was not chosen by chance, as the subject of the meeting concerned the organized direction and dispatch of students to these religious schools.

At Akmercan, the cream of the Erdoğanist power system set up “headquarters”:

  • Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, son of the Turkish President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the all-powerful Knowledge Dissemination Foundation (İlim Yayma Vakfı), who serves as supreme ideological guide.

  • Haydar Ali Yıldız, member of the AKP Central Committee (MKYK), Deputy Chairman of Organization of the General Staff and Coordinator of the Marmara Region.

  • The Chairwoman of the AKP Provincial Committee in Edirne, Belgin İba.

  • The AKP Member of Parliament for Edirne, Fatma Aksal.

  • The entire hard-line party core, including the Presidencies of the Youth and the Women’s Branch Administration of the local AKP organization.

In this purely partisan, internal Turkish environment, the appointee of the Turkish deep state, the “President” of ASETMDTH, the illegal and irregular supposed “Advisory Body of the Minority,” the planted “pseudo-mufti” of Xanthi, Mustafa Trampa, was particularly “hosted,” accompanied by minority figures connected with the para-religious establishment of the Turkish Consulate in Komotini.

The Connection with Thrace and the Rice of İpsala

Mustafa Trampa’s presence at the meeting was not ceremonial. According to an official announcement by the illegal “Pseudo-Mufti’s Office of Xanthi,” Mr. Trampa functioned as an intermediary link, bringing to the attention of Bilal Erdoğan and AKP officials the issues faced by minority students from Greek Thrace during their studies in Turkey, requesting “interventions” for their livelihood and educational progress.

At the same time, the climate of absolute submission and elevation of Erdoğan’s son as “protector” of the wider region is confirmed by the backstage of the contacts. Characteristic was the move by the party delegation from neighboring İpsala, which rushed to offer Bilal Erdoğan “İpsala rice” as a gift, declaring with pride that they represent the values of their region at every such ethno-religious platform.

Editor’s Comment: The Ideological Vise of Imam Hatip Schools

What unfolded at the Akmercan İHL Religious High School in Edirne reveals the true core of Ankara’s strategy and leaves no room for misinterpretation. The “Education Support Platform” is not an innocent social or educational body, but a key lever of ideological penetration, control and proselytization. The goal of the pro-Erdoğan regime is the complete coordination of the party and deep state mechanism (from the women and youth of the AKP to the local administrations at the borders) for the systematic direction of students—including Greek Muslims of Thrace—to the Imam Hatip Islamic schools.

The open alignment of Mustafa Trampa with Bilal Erdoğan and top AKP officials confirms the operation of a “communicating vessel” between the pro-consulate system of Thrace and the deep Erdoğanist state. The education of the children of the Minority is instrumentalized in the most provocative way, turning Thracian students into a lever of pressure and a field of ideological manipulation, far from the European, democratic and institutional framework of the Greek state. The conclusions are yours.
