Biden-Released Illegal Caught with Shank in Jail After Murder Charge
Jose Medina-Medina, charged with murdering Loyola University student Sheridan Gorman, faces additional charges after guards found him with a makeshift weapon in Cook County Jail.
Jose Medina-Medina, 25, was initially arrested by Chicago Police and charged with the murder of Sheridan Gorman following a random attack on a pier at Tobey Prinz Beach on March 19 of this year, according to Breitbart News.
Court documents show that Sheridan was spending time with friends on the pier when she spotted Medina-Medina concealing himself while wearing a mask and carrying a firearm. As Sheridan and her companions attempted to flee to safety, Medina-Medina allegedly opened fire, fatally shooting the freshman college student.
This week, jail personnel at Cook County Jail discovered Medina-Medina in possession of a 6-inch shank during a routine search, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office confirmed. Officials allege that the weapon consisted of a sharpened metal piece fitted with a handle secured by tape, which was found concealed in his pocket.
The development follows recent public statements by Sheridan’s parents, Thomas and Jessica Gorman, who appeared at a rally in Rockland County, New York, hosted by President Donald Trump.
Jessica Gorman recounted that her daughter had planned to view the Northern Lights with friends on the night of her death. She never got to see those lights, the grieving mother said, adding that her daughter’s life was stolen by a man who should never have been allowed into the country or released into the community.
Jessica Gorman condemned what she described as systemic failures at every level that could have prevented the tragedy. She stated that no family should be forced to bury their child because public officials failed to prioritize innocent American lives.
Thomas Gorman described the profound loss his family has endured, stating they did not only lose Sheridan but also their peace, their future, and the life they once knew. He emphasized that no family should have to become experts in immigration failures, release policies, warrants, sanctuary laws, and enforcement breakdowns because their daughter was killed by someone who should neither have been in the country nor walking free.
Last month, House Judiciary Committee Republicans released internal Department of Homeland Security documents showing that agency officials released Medina-Medina into the United States interior in May 2023 despite knowing he lacked a valid asylum claim, as Breitbart News reports.
The documents reveal that under former DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, Medina-Medina was released even though he presented no valid asylum claim, possessed no identification, provided no United States contact information or address, and indicated he had no fear of being returned to Venezuela.
Just one month after his release into the country, Medina-Medina was arrested in Chicago in June 2023 for shoplifting. Due to the city and state’s sanctuary policies, he was not transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents following that arrest—a decision that would have prevented Sheridan Gorman’s murder.
