Bamcare scams boomed under Biden, putrid pols normalize violence
Healthcare fraud under Obamacare surged during the Biden administration as expanded COVID-era subsidies created new opportunities for criminals to exploit taxpayer-funded programs through bogus enrollments.
While Medicaid fraud has captured significant media attention, the Affordable Care Act system has proven equally vulnerable to organized scamming operations. The problem intensified substantially after President Joe Biden introduced additional pandemic-related subsidies that opened new loopholes for fraudsters.
The Trump administration has taken steps to combat the widespread abuse, but a recent analysis from Paragon Health Institute reveals that fraudulent activity remains deeply entrenched and requires far more aggressive action to eliminate.
How the Scam Operates
The fraud scheme centers on unscrupulous brokers who enroll legitimate citizens in plans that receive full subsidies from federal coffers. The victims typically have no knowledge their identities have been used for these bogus enrollments.
Taxpayer funds flow directly to insurance companies for these phantom participants, while brokers pocket between twenty and thirty dollars per enrollee every month. The arrangement creates a steady revenue stream for criminals at public expense.
Although Biden’s enhanced subsidies have now expired, the damage persists through automatic enrollment mechanisms that allow millions of fraudulent accounts to continue operating unchecked.
Mental Illness and Violence in New York
A slashing attack at Penn Station Sunday left five people hospitalized after a suspect with severe mental illness and an extensive criminal record went on a rampage. The incident occurred exactly one month after another mentally disturbed repeat offender killed a man just hours after his release from a psychiatric evaluation.
Carolyn D. Gorman at City Journal notes that violence committed by individuals with untreated serious mental illness has become disturbingly normalized in New York, allowing city leaders to evade responsibility for their failure to address the crisis.
Elected officials routinely minimize the threat, characterizing transit violence as rare even as it reaches historic levels. Reducing violence by the mentally ill is achievable, but empty gestures and expressions of concern accomplish nothing.
European Populism Mischaracterized
Brussels establishment figures and their media allies consistently portray Europe’s national-populist movements as a return to fascism, drawing comparisons to the Hitler era. Joel Kotkin at Spiked dismantles this false narrative, noting that today’s so-called far right bears no resemblance to the fascists of the 1920s and 1930s.
Modern populist movements lack the revolutionary vision that characterized historical fascism and do not appeal to educated elites as movements under Mussolini and Hitler did. Reform’s support base in Britain comes from traditional working-class Labour constituencies, while the AfD has gained ground in Germany’s Ruhr region, the historic industrial heartland.
The dishonest comparison serves to deflect attention from the genuine cause of the rightward shift: the comprehensive failures of European elites themselves.
Russia’s Dependence on China
Vladimir Putin launched his invasion of Ukraine to restore Russian imperial greatness, but David Kirichenko at The Hill observes that the campaign may ultimately be remembered for transforming Russia into China’s subordinate partner.
Russia now depends heavily on China for electronics, industrial machinery, automobiles, and dual-use technologies that sustain Putin’s war machine. Beijing serves as Moscow’s primary economic lifeline, providing everything from microchips and artificial intelligence to energy resources.
To prosecute his brutal war, Putin is sacrificing Russia’s economic future while steadily increasing Beijing’s leverage. Moscow is even restructuring portions of the Russian Far East around Chinese economic requirements, binding Russia ever tighter to a relationship where China holds overwhelming advantage.
Delaney Hall Protesters Seek Confrontation
Protesters at Delaney Hall claim concern for detainee conditions, but their actual objective has always been shutting down the ICE facility entirely, according to William McGurn at The Wall Street Journal. Activists promote sensational allegations of overcrowding and contaminated food while New Jersey Democrats file lawsuits aimed at closing the center.
Governor Mikie Sherrill deployed state troopers to contain rioting while portraying ICE as the enemy of peace rather than the protesters who attacked law enforcement. Anti-ICE extremists still view her as no better than Donald Trump simply because she acted to prevent a Minneapolis-style tragedy.
The rioters appear to half-hope someone will be killed to create progressive martyrs and energize their cause.
