Arab-looking youths torture animals and attack witnesses with baton in Austria
A 57-year-old man in Vienna was attacked with a knife and baton by four migrant youths after confronting them for trespassing in an animal enclosure and chasing wildlife.
The incident occurred at the Kurpark Oberlaa in Vienna’s Favoriten district, where the young males had climbed over the fence of a wildlife enclosure and proceeded to chase animals through the facility. The enclosure houses alpacas, sheep, and goats, according to reports.
The victim, who was walking his dog at the time, noticed the disturbance and asked the youths to leave the enclosure immediately. In response, the group turned on him and launched a violent assault.
Police reports indicate the man was threatened with a knife and attacked with a baton during the confrontation. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the victim suffering from a bleeding head wound. Emergency services treated him on site before the situation could be fully assessed.
The four attackers fled the scene on bicycles immediately after the assault. Despite an immediate manhunt, police were unable to locate the suspects, authorities confirmed.
Witness Description and Ongoing Investigation
A witness described the suspects as approximately 13 to 16 years old with dark short hair, wearing light-colored jeans and carrying small backpacks. In a private witness appeal circulated on social media, additional details emerged indicating the youths spoke Arabic and were of Arab origin.
Vienna’s municipal gardens department confirmed the incident and revealed that an additional fence had already been erected around the facility prior to this attack due to previous security concerns. Authorities are now reviewing further protective measures for the site.
Local police have announced they will increase patrols in the area following the violent assault. The investigation into the identities and whereabouts of the four suspects remains ongoing.
