AfD Raises Serious Allegations Against Youth Parliament Program
Young participants nominated by Germany's AfD party reported severe harassment and exclusion during a Bundestag youth simulation event, prompting the party to demand a full investigation.
According to Junge Freiheit, the AfD parliamentary group has raised serious allegations about the organization of the “Youth and Parliament” simulation program held at Germany’s federal parliament building in Berlin. Multiple participants nominated by the AfD reported being subjected to insults, exclusion and mobbing throughout the event.
The parliamentary group expressed being “extremely concerned” about incidents that occurred during the simulation. Young people nominated by the AfD were allegedly called “Nazi,” “AfD-Nazi,” “AfD whore,” “shit fascists,” “bastard,” “Nazi slut” and “AfD son of a whore,” according to statements provided to the party.
Awareness Teams Failed to Act
Despite complaints being lodged with the parliament’s so-called awareness teams, the abuse was neither sanctioned nor stopped, the AfD stated. The party called the response “irresponsible” toward the affected young people, noting that the hostility they experienced in the Bundestag “deeply affected” the participants.
Beyond the verbal harassment, the AfD accused organizers of systematically preventing their nominees from delivering speeches or assuming official roles during the simulation. This behavior, the party argued, made a mockery of the event’s stated purpose of teaching young people about the Bundestag’s function as the “heartbeat of parliamentary democracy.”
Calls for Administrative Review
The AfD parliamentary group is now demanding a comprehensive review by the Bundestag administration. Future events must ensure that participants are not insulted, excluded or mobbed, and that all young people have the opportunity to participate actively regardless of their political background, the party stated.
AfD leader Alice Weidel also raised allegations, describing “monstrosities” that other young people had reported to her. One girl was allegedly physically assaulted by “political competitors” after being accused of Nazi sympathies.
Weidel announced she would pursue the matter “through legal and parliamentary means.” A Bundestag spokesman told Junge Freiheit that the parliamentary administration currently has “no information” about the alleged physical attack described by Weidel.
One Participant Expelled Over Hand Gesture
Prior to these allegations coming to light, it had become known that one AfD-nominated youth displayed a gesture interpreted as a “white power” sign. A Bundestag spokesman confirmed to Junge Freiheit that a participant in the Youth and Parliament simulation displayed the white power sign and was consequently expelled from the program on Tuesday morning.
