Pink at Tony Awards: ‘Trans Siblings’ Lost ‘Even More Rights

Pop singer Pink claimed at the Tony Awards that transgender individuals have lost rights over the past year without providing specifics, as the Supreme Court considers West Virginia's Save Women's Sports Act.

The performer, whose legal name is Alecia Moore, made the remarks while presenting commentary on Broadway productions nominated for awards, according to Breitbart News.

During her speech, Pink drew connections between current events and theatrical productions. This year our trans siblings started to lose even more rights, and we were given ‘Cats: The Jellicle Ball,’ she stated, referencing the nominated show.

The artist did not elaborate on which specific rights she believes have been curtailed. Her comments came as the Supreme Court weighs whether to uphold West Virginia’s Save Women’s Sports Act, a measure designed to preserve female athletic competition.

Legal analysts have widely predicted the Court will side with West Virginia. Such a ruling could establish a nationwide precedent preventing biological males from competing in women’s sports categories.

As Breitbart News reports, SCOTUSBlog observed in January that following nearly three and a half hours of oral arguments regarding cases from Idaho and West Virginia, a majority of justices appeared inclined to allow the laws to remain in effect. The exact scope of any potential ruling remains uncertain.

This is not Pink’s first public advocacy on the issue. Earlier in 2025, she made similar statements during the Fire Aid benefit concert, where she addressed the audience with language acknowledging multiple gender identities beyond the traditional male-female binary.

The Supreme Court’s deliberations on the Save Women’s Sports Act represent a pivotal moment in the ongoing national debate over fairness in athletics and the definition of sex-based categories in competitive sport.
