Joe Rogan Slams Dems Who Won’t Admit ‘Woke 1.0’ Went Too Far

In a recent episode of his podcast, according to New York Post, Rogan addressed liberals directly about their support for disastrous policies like “defund the police,” questioning how they fell for ideas that had obvious consequences. He stressed that Democrats need to provide honest explanations for their past positions if they want credibility going forward.

The podcaster was responding to recent comments from Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who has tried to distance herself from what she termed “Woke 1.0” in the wake of Democratic electoral losses.

If you want us to take you seriously, you have to say how you f—ed up, Rogan stated, insisting that politicians must demonstrate genuine embarrassment over their previous choices rather than simply claiming to have moved on.

He warned that without authentic accountability, Democrats would continue to accumulate credibility problems over time, leading to the kind of political decay that sours public figures in the eyes of voters.

Would Democrats Have Changed Course Under Harris?

During the same podcast episode, Rogan’s guest, YouTuber Chris Williamson, raised a pointed question about Democratic sincerity. He suggested that if former Vice President Kamala Harris had won the 2024 election, figures like Ocasio-Cortez would never have admitted any problems with woke policies at all.

Williamson’s skepticism reflects broader doubts about whether Democratic Party elites are genuinely rethinking their positions or simply adjusting their messaging after electoral defeat.

Conservatives Doubt Genuine Change

Political commentators from across the spectrum have expressed serious reservations about Democratic claims of ideological evolution.

Tim Graham, executive editor of the Media Research Center’s NewsBusters, told Fox News Digital that Democrats don’t actually want to be seen backing away from wokeness, especially now that their coalition includes activists who want to empty prisons. He noted they’re simply less confident than in 2020, when they openly defended race riots as rebellions and violence as acceptable political action.

Democratic consultant and former House Judiciary Committee minority chief counsel Julian Epstein delivered a harsh assessment of his own party’s trajectory. He argued there’s little difference between so-called Woke 1 and Woke 2, describing both as involving the commodification of grievance and rage packaged with extremist ideas that fail to help voters while seeking to make them permanent dependents of the state.

Epstein contrasted this approach with Democrats of the 1990s, who promoted America as the greatest opportunity machine ever invented and sought to give people agency rather than dependency.

Republicans See Cynical Strategy

Mary Marslender, a Republican consultant and president of Leverage PR, characterized the vague talk of ditching “Woke 1.0” as a temporary political strategy rather than genuine course correction.

She pointed out that Democrats refuse to specifically call out the craziness of their previous positions. They have yet to stand up for women by preventing biological males in women’s sports, stop the DEI agenda in schools and institutions, or advocate for safe communities by ending their support of soft-on-crime progressive prosecutors.

Marslender noted the lack of concrete policy reversals is revealing. Democrats claim they want to fix the broken immigration system, but such rhetoric rings hollow when they oppose interior enforcement, call to abolish ICE, defend violent illegal aliens, and unequivocally support sanctuary cities.

She added that had Harris won, the same coalition that championed the 1619 Project, policing reforms adjacent to defunding, and gender ideology in schools would have viewed any moderation as betrayal.

Former Republican National Committee spokesperson Elizabeth Pipko observed that Democrats today tend to turn with the wind, supporting whatever is most popular with their base during primaries before the presidential nominee pretends they never supported those positions.

The consensus among conservative observers is clear: until Democrats explicitly admit fault and demonstrate serious reversal of their woke policies, American voters should treat the so-called “post-woke” shift as political expedience rather than genuine ideological change.
